SUMMARY:Mostra fotografica "Sarajevo 1992–1996 – l'assedio più lungo"
DESCRIPTION:Prosegue il viaggio della mostra “Sarajevo 1992–1996 – l’assedio più lungo” del fotografo italiano Mario Boccia\, che dopo le tappe di Rovereto e Belgrado\, sarà inaugurata a Zagabria il 5 maggio alle ore 18:00 presso l’Istituto italiano di Cultura.  \nRealizzata da Osservatorio Balcani Caucaso Transeuropa e dal Museo Storico Italiano della Guerra\, la mostra racconta attraverso scatti in bianco e nero la dura quotidianità degli abitanti di Sarajevo durante gli anni di distruzione della loro città. Queste fotografie non sono solo testimonianza di devastazione e perdita\, ma anche di speranza\, dignità e dei gesti invisibili di solidarietà che hanno tenuto unita la comunità cittadina. \nMario Boccia\, fotogiornalista freelance\, ha realizzato reportage su questioni internazionali e pubblicato articoli e fotografie su molte testate giornalistiche italiane. Ha lavorato per vent’anni in scenari di guerra e povertà in Europa\, Africa\, America Latina e Medio Oriente\, cercando di individuare segnali di speranza anche nelle situazioni più disperate. È stato corrispondente e inviato de “il Manifesto” da Sarajevo\, Belgrado\, Pristina\, Skopje\, Dyarbakir e Baghdad. \nAll’inaugurazione della mostra il 5 maggio parteciperà Mario Boccia\, assieme all’ex vicesindaco di Sarajevo Anja Margetić e la caporedattrice della radio zagabrese yammat.fm Silvija Šeparović. L’evento sarà in italiano e in croato con traduzione simultanea e fa parte del programma di Kliofest\, il festival di storia di Zagabria. \nLa mostra sarà visitabile a maggio e giugno\, negli orari di apertura dell’Istituto italiano di Cultura e l’ingresso è gratuito. Dopo Zagabria\, la mostra viaggerà a Sarajevo. \nL’ospitalità della mostra è organizzata nell’ambito del progetto “Trancityons”\, cofinanziato dall’Unione Europea (CERV-2024-CITIZENS-REM). \nNel contesto della mostra saranno organizzati altri quattro eventi all’Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Zagabria: \n6 maggio ore 11:00\nVisita guidata della mostra con il fotografo Mario Boccia (evento in italiano e in croato con traduzione simultanea) \n20 maggio ore 18:00\nSarajevo\, trent’anni dopo: come si costruisce la fiducia? SUMMARY:Addressing abusive lawsuits. What can journalists do when they are SLAPP-ed?
DESCRIPTION:SLAPP (strategic lawsuits against public participation) is a common tool for intimidating and silencing people who speak out on matters of public interest through expensive\, baseless legal proceedings. The most likely targets of SLAPPs are journalists\, media outlets\, editors\, activists\, and NGOs. \nVexatious lawsuits have become a common experience for journalists across the world\, and Europe is not an exception. Investigative journalists are all too often dragged to court for exposing wrongdoings\, wasting valuable time and newsroom resources on legal proceedings\, rather than fulfilling their watchdog role and informing readers. \nDespite responses formulated by the European Union and the Council of Europe\, there is evidence that the number of such lawsuits is still extremely high. Business people\, politicians\, and even some prime ministers tend to sue journalists who cover them – usually for articles that are well-researched and statements that are factually true. This event will bring together leading journalists and media researchers to share insights and best practices on how journalists can withstand such pressure\, as well as understand how journalistic unions and associations can best protect their members. \nThis is the second Transnational Online Awareness Raising event of the M4CD – Media for Citizens and Democracy in the Digital Age training project\, an initiative of the Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom (CMPF) and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ).
