DESCRIPTION:Regional cooperation is a pillar of the EU integration and stabilization process of the Western Balkan countries. Over the past two decades\, many regional cooperation initiatives increased in number\, while the EU enlargement process faced a slowdown. DESCRIPTION:Su organizzazione della Fondaco Europa\, associazione culturale di Venezia\, un incontro di approfondimento dedicato alle sfide che vedono impegnate l’Italia e l’Unione Europea\, in un contesto geopolitico sempre più complesso. Per OBCT interverrà Luisa Chiodi\, direttrice scientifica di OBCT \nDa quello che definiamo Mediterraneo allargato\, concetto che amplia la nozione meramente geografica di questo mare\, annettendo aree dove insistono nostri interessi nazionali ed europei\, arrivano i problemi più impegnativi per il nostro paese e per l’Unione Europea. La postura bellicosa della Federazione Russa\, col corredo del conflitto in Ucraina\, l’atteggiamento disinvolto della Turchia\, il crocevia balcanico\, il Medio Oriente\, segnato nuovamente da conflitti cruenti\, e l’Africa\, con il suo bagaglio di problemi aperti e di opportunità contese\, costituiscono altrettante sfide ai confini di casa nostra\, il tutto in un quadro di forte instabilità che pretende risposte sul tema della difesa e sicurezza. \nNon è possibile ignorare queste sfide ed è pericoloso affrontarle in ordine sparso\, spinti da urgenze che non ci concedono dilazioni. SUMMARY:Roundtable on Media Freedom and Safety of Journalists in Albania
DESCRIPTION:In efforts to step up multi-stakeholder discussions and actions for advancing media freedom and journalists’ safety in Albania\, SCiDEV\, in collaboration with BIRN Albania  \, Qendra Faktoje  \, and the Italian think tank OBC Transeuropa   are organising a joint roundtable on “Media Freedom in Albania and Safety of Journalists in Albania: Perceptions\, Progress\, and Collaborative Discussion” \n\n\nTaking place on June 27\, 2024\, starting from 10:00 am\, at Rogner Hotel Tirana\, this event seeks to enhance collaboration between local media\, CSOs\, academia\, and journalists to promote media freedom in Albania. \nThroughout the discussions\, SCiDEV and partners from the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network in Albania (BIRN Albania) and Qendra Faktoje will share their findings from a preliminary research work carried out within the three-year project “Strengthening Media Freedom\, Professionalism\, and Journalists’ Safety in Albania.”   Over its course\, the project will produce three annual reports to monitor Albania’s progress concerning EU recommendations on freedom of expression\, journalists’ safety\, and media freedom.  This project is implemented by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network in Albania (BIRN Albania)\, in cooperation with the Center Science for Innovation Development (SCiDEV) and Qendra Faktoje. It is funded through the EU Call: “Civil Society Facility and Media Programme 2022 and Thematic Programme for Human Rights and Democracy 2022-2023” (Ref.
