The webinar will focus on EU cohesion policy and its link with enlargement towards the Western Balkans in the field of environment looking in particular at the contribution of communities of practices
It is part of the research carried out over the past year by OBCT and CeSPI, which explores the potential of European territorial cooperation programmes and projects in promoting transnational cooperation in the Adriatic-Ionian space and, consequently, in fostering bottom up European integration, developing practical knowledge and strengthening interactions between the involved actors.
The event provides an opportunity to share the preliminary research findings and discuss with experts, civil servants and civil society activists the extent to which the European integration process can be pushed forward by groups of professionals dealing with concrete issues on the field, such as in the case of environmental protection.
Acknowledging the importance of citizen-oriented communication, the webinar will also examine how media coverage of cohesion and policy – particularly in relation to addressing climate and environmental challenges – can strengthen citizens’ identification with the EU and boost their support for it.
